In SAEA’s fall conference, members reviewed Trimble and Boston Dynamics’ strategic alliance to extend the use of autonomous robots in construction projects. The construction industry is well known for the least change and slow adoption of new technologies to advance their industry.
With an eye toward the future of construction robotic applications, Boston Dynamics has created, “Seamless integration between Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot and Trimble’s GNSS, RTS, and 3D laser scanning technology [to] enable improved safety, quality, and productivity in construction.”
With labor force regulatory and environmental challenges, autonomous robots in construction will make construction activities more efficient and cost-effective. SAEA members learned about autonomous robots’ roles in construction and are eager to continue discussion of this field as many members are invested in the outcome of construction innovations for their own careers.
