SAEA Board and special earthquake taskforce in relation to their current technical engineering support for the earthquakes in Syria to attend the ASCE expert panel:
ASCE Geo-Congress 2023: Turkey-Syria Earthquakes Panel, Wed, Mar 29, 2023 at 12:00 PM
The ASCE Geotechnical Institute (GI) invited ASCE members to a moderated panel presented live at Geo-Congress 2023 in Los Angeles. Updates on the February 6, 2023 Magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 Kahramanmaras Earthquakes in Turkey-Syria were presented by GI-members – some of whom were directly affected the tragedy. Structural and social science experts also joined the panel to discuss the facts and how we can prevent such major events from becoming a catastrophe in the future.
