
In the recent virtual winter conference, SAEA members learned how to become PMP Certified through the Project Management Institute. They covered the following:
Prerequisites:
-Bachelor’s Degree + 35 months experience OR Associate’s Degree + 60 months experience
-35 credit hours from an authorized PMI training center
-Online application, including details of your work experience
Exam:
-230 minutes, 180 questions, some multiple choice
-Cost: $555 for non-PMI members, $405 for PMI members
Maintenance:
-PMP Certification has three-year cycle in which the PMP needs to earn 60 Professional Development Units
Engineer Atassi PMP recommends the following exam preparation steps:
-Have passion for project management
-Study the PMBOK
-Plan and register for the exam in advance
-Study for at least two months, 3-4 hours daily
-Gain a deep understanding of the knowledge areas and process groups and how they intersect
-Read other publications and do exam simulations
-Attend the exam, and become a PMP
