Engineer Atassi, PMP presented SAEA members with a primer on project management generally and in the engineering field. Member Atassi pointed out the necessity for quality execution and measurable results in all engineering projects–an area where certified project managers can help fill the gap. He suggests the PMP certification from Project Management Institute as the most popular and widely recognized certification.
Project management is the use of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to generate an outcome that provides value whether tangible or intangible. In the engineering field, this may look like: developing new software to automate a manual business process, constructing a building, expansion of a manufacturing facility, or a relief effort in response to a natural disaster, among many others.
Atassi recommends the PMP certification as a lucrative qualification to prove leadership experience and expertise.
